COAT OF ARMS

Get to know the Portuguese Navy’s Coat of Arms, the characteristics, and the symbols that compose it, as well as its meaning.

Traditionally, the Navy’s colours are Azure and Argent. Azure means zeal, loyalty justice, beauty, and good reputation, whilst Argent stands for purity, integrity, firmness, and obedience. The dolphin was chosen to appear on heraldic symbols of the Navy since it is an intelligent and witty creature, endowed with exceptional mobility in the aquatic environment.
