PATRON

Cassiopeia is the name of a constellation. In Greek mythology, Cassiopeia was the name of Cefeu’s wife, and mother of princess Andrómeda. Cassiopeia was very vain and arrogant, arguing to be more beautiful than the Nereidas, daughters of Poseidon. Not conforming themselves, the Nereidas asked Poseidon for vengeance that sent Ceteus, a sea monster, to destroy the kingdom of Cefeu. To calm the wrath of the God of the Seas, an oracle advised that Andrómeda was offered as sacrifice to Ceteus. Following advice from an oracle, Andrómeda was chained to a rock as an offering to the monster, but was rescued in time by Perseu. To not escape unscathed, Cassiopeia was transformed into a constellation, as punishment.
