MISSION AND EMPLOYMENT
In a perfect adequacy to the environment, NRP Minho is characterized by its reduced draught and an absence of propellers or rudder blades. The propulsion and govern are ensured by two omnidirectional water jets, conferring an excellent maneuvering capacity and lower handicaps in front of the morphological and geographical constraints of the environment. Its partitioning ensures its survival even with up to two flooded adjacent compartments.
This patrol boat was designed to patrol the northern river border of Portugal, established in 1864, and has as its mission:
Inspection and control the Minho River International Stretch, downstream from Valença, and occasionally, the coastal area adjacent to its mouth, exert a naval presence, executing acts of representation and contributing for the maritime rescue system.
This class of ships has an innovative structure, being corrosion resistant naval aluminum built, which has an enormous advantage, reducing the maintenance costs along the life cycle of the ship.
This fast patrol boat performs safety and state authority missions, within national jurisdiction waters, in the continental coastal zone and the Madeira archipelago, namely inspection patrol in waters under national jurisdiction.
