NRP DOURO

Tejo Class

The NRP Douro is the second coastal patrol boat of Tejo class. It is a STANFLEX 300 type vessel, built in Denmark in 1994 as a fighting ship, being one of fourteen ships constructed between 1985 and 1996. It was part of a squadron with multipurpose capabilities, divided into three series, according to the type of task assigned to it.

HERALDIC PENNANT

Striped in six pieces wavy Azure-Argent, divided in four parts by a banderole Or, with the motto «N.R.P. DOURO» in dark capital letters, elzevir font. Next to the hoist, there is a shield Or with a dragon Sable.

Patron

The Douro River is the third-longest river in the Iberian Peninsula after the Tagus and Ebro. It flows from its source in the peaks of the Sierra de Urbião, at an altitude of 2080 meters, in the Soria province, in the North of Spain.

​​​​​​​​​​MISSION AND EMPLOYMENT

​The NRP Douro, built of fiberglass, was commissioned in 2015, after being the target of a demanding refit at the Arsenal do Alfeite S.A. shipyards; the NRP Douro received its National Flag on April 7th, 2017, being promptly tasked with National interest assignments for the country, both in national and international waters. The main tasks of the ship are supervision and control of waters under the national jurisdiction, and Maritime Search and Rescue.​
